The 25-year old has been struck by a motor vehicle at Delray Beach, Florida on Sunday morning and had to have the bottom half of his right leg amputated. He is now listed in critical condition at Delray Medical Center based on Blackzillians teammate Rashad Evans.
Bellator released a statement indicating Delray Beach police are searching for info from anyone who might have witnessed the crash. “Bellator has been informed of a terrible accident that occurred last night between featherweight fighter Jordan Parsons, who was struck by an automobile in a hit-and-run incident,” the announcement read. “We are still in the process of uncovering details and with his family’s approval, expect to have an update on his medical state soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jordan and his family as he recovers. The hit-and-run occurred on Lindell Blvd. and South Federal Highway in Delray Beach, Florida. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Delray Beach Police Department in -LRB-561-RRB-??243-7800.” Parsons (12-2) was scheduled to fight Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 154 in San Jose on May 14. It’s likely Piccolotti will not have a replacement competitor and the bout will probably be scrapped. I interviewed Parsons a week ahead of his Bellator 154 matchup and he was excited about the move back up to lightweight. On behalf of myself and the rest of the MMAOddsBreaker.com group, I’d like to send my well wishes to Jordan, his loved ones and his teammates through this difficult time.
